Young Retailer of the Year
Tuesday, May 1, 2012 - 5:30-8:00 p.m.
Each year, NRHA hosts the Young Retailer of the Year Program. The program highlights young, aspiring hardware retailers and honors them for outstanding achievement as owners and managers of independently owned hardware and building supply stores in the United States and Canada. The purpose of the program, now in its 16th year, is to recognize outstanding performance and encourage talented young people to pursue a career in the retail hardware business. To date, the program has honored over 100 young retailers. Winners are recognized at a special awards program and reception at the National Hardware Show’s opening evening event.

Retailers’ Choice
Wednesday, May 2, 2012 - 5:00-6:30 p.m.
Hardware Retailing magazine’s Retailers’ Choice Awards, held on the main stage at the NRHA Village, is always one of the top programs of the event, and Hardware Retailing magazine has been sponsoring the event for more than 30 years in conjunction with the National Hardware Show.
Unlike other awards, the products honored at the Retailers’ Choice ceremony are not selected by editors. Instead, these products are chosen from the thousands of items on the showfloor by a panel of home improvement retailers who volunteer their time to serve as judges. National Hardware Show attendees are invited to stay after show hours for a cocktail reception and awards program to see which products made this year’s list.

Spirit of Independents’ Awards
Wednesday, May 2, 2012 - 11:00-11:45 a.m.
The Spirit of Independents’ program was established to recognize independent home improvement retailers for their philanthropic efforts and community service activities. NRHA chooses three of the industry’s most notable and influential retailers to receive this award each year at the NRHA Village stage during the National Hardware Show.

Packaging and Merchandising Awards
Tuesday, May 1, 2012 - 2:00-2:45 p.m.
The purpose of this awards program is to encourage and recognize the development of innovative packaging and merchandising aids that will help independent hardware stores, home centers and lumberyards sell more products through their stores. Awards are presented at the NRHA Village stage during the National Hardware Show.

NRHA Top Guns Awards
Wednesday, May 2, 2012 - 1:00 p.m.
This is the industry’s chance to hear what today’s top independent retailers are thinking. NRHA and Hardware Retailing magazine will once again assemble a panel of the industry’s most successful and innovative independent retailers to share their stories and thoughts on the industry. Past Top Gun honorees have included Cally Coleman Fromme from Zarsky Lumber, Tony Brookhouse from Koopman Lumber Co., Dennis Orem from Jerry’s Home Improvement Centers and Will Barnhart from Wilco.
